This is a manifesto for equal access to quality medical treatment; for an extension of the French healthcare system; and an endorsement of democratic healthcare.
Faced with the programmed decline of French public healthcare, a group of top physicians, as well patients, scientists, artists and writers, submitted 17 proposals for a new healthcare policy in accord with the principles of equality and fairness. The proposals gathered 123 signatures.
This is a reformulation of the 1945 republican social pact, in a spirit of ethics, quality and democracy.
• Preserving the healthcare system should be central to debates during the presidential campaign.
• The book denounces the “destruction” of French public hospitals and the deficiencies in healthcare prevention and safety.
• How to broaden financing of the French healthcare system; how to rehabilitate GPs, as a profession.
