Marc Augé is one of the greatest living French anthropologists. A graduate of the École normale supérieure, he was head of the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, following Fernand Braudel, Jacques Le Goff, and François Furet. Founder of the Centre d’anthropologie des mondes contemporains at the EHESS, he is the author of around forty groundbreaking and authoritative books. His principal works include Génie du paganisme; Non-lieux; and Une ethnologie de soi. He recently published the best-selling La sacrée semaine qui changea la face du monde.
First, a few rumors were being spread in medical circles, accompanied by skeptical comments, then they became increasingly insistent. Finally, at exactly 8:00 p.m., a message from the minister of health solemnly announced that a French team of doctors from the Salpêtrière hospital had in fact been successful in their efforts.
The man in question had died in 1980 at the age of 40. All his vital functions had been restored.
Would this French medical victory definitively change the world and the future of humanity? And should it?
A book that needs to be read!
