The cognitive sciences are inspired by the conviction that the spirit can reveal its secrets through a combined application of a multitude of disciplines, including psychology, linguistics, anthropology, artificial intelligence, neurophysiology and philosophy. Today considered a classic, this work presents the cognitive sciences and examines their origins, approaches, and results.
