Antonio Battro

Half a Brain is Enought Translated from english (United States) by Marie-France Desjeux. Publication date : November 1, 2003

This is the moving and extraordinary story of Nico, who as a three-year-old child was given a right hemispherectomy to control intractable epilepsy. There are about one hundred such cases in the world today, but each one is unique.
At the age of five, Nico became Antonio M. Battro’s pupil. Applying the latest information and communication technology, Battro was able to guide Nico through his education.
This book is both a case history and the story of Nico’s struggle to learn and communicate. It is also a meditation on the nature of the brain and the development of the mind. And, finally, it is a warm-hearted, optimistic appeal for the mentally handicapped to be given access to education that is adapted to their needs.
This is a fascinating book for anyone who is interested in how we think and learn.
