Stanislas Dehaene is notably the author of Les Neurones de la lecture. He is a professor at the Collège de France in the Chair of Experimental Cognitive Psychology.

What happens when we read? Experimental psychology and brain imaging have helped us understand how the human brain recognises writing and how the brain itself is modified as it learns to read. There is now a science of reading, but one that remains largely ignored by those who should be most concerned by it: the parents and teachers of primary school children.
